Hello dear readers,
So, last year I let the stresses of the world get to me, and it left me depleted and devoid of my creativity, bar Christmas crocheting, which, by my standards, is totally essential soul therapy.
I did bugger all writing and little on my website, my playground. Maddy’s Curious Universe. This disappointed me greatly.
I seem to do this thing where if I monetise my craft/skills I get overwhelmed to be perfect and make it a viable success. And then the procrastination monster sits on my shoulder, sniggering wildly at my mind’s chaos. I have my own personal tall-poppy syndrome. This year, I am going to let go of all that baggage and return to being a free-range maker. Craft whatever I feel like, when I feel like it, taking however long I take to make the things, keeping crafts real and not perfect, but made with fun and love.
And I will also tell myself, there is nothing wrong with selling my work. Each original piece crafted by me is a part of my soul, be it crochet or my stories. I like to have fun whilst making things. That’s the point! Not feel pressured and unsure and inadequate. All the money I make goes to fund my yarn addiction and the MCU playground I made — for me. And I think I am okay with that. I let myself be free to play. To write my stories. To create with yarn. It is not lost on me that yarn is my thread of sanity, be it actual fibre or a story! To make something out of nothing — that is my skill.
Feel free to join me.
Love and kindness,
Maddy x
PS: I nearly forgot!!! My three words this year …
Serenity – Because it is a beautiful word and I like to feel serene.
Grateful – For my family and my humble little world.
Treasure – Again, I treasure my family and my humble little world. Every single moment. And hopefully find some wonderful treasure at the op shops this year! Simple things …
